Media Convergence: Advantages and Disadvantages
Media Convergence: Advantages and Disadvantages Presentation The electronic interstate of data that is supporting the world has stopped the Gutenberg time. Progress from a ââ¬Å"stones toss awayâ⬠world to a ââ¬Å"click awayâ⬠world has changed the manner in which we live, communicate, mingle and work. It has additionally changed the manner in which we see culture, individuals, forms, objects for example life in short. The rapid system texture has rendered geological limits insignificant. A couple of years back it might have seemed like a thought by Slartibartfast from the unbelievable planet of Margarathea(from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) yet with the approach of innovative stages this aint an unrealistic thought any more yet is the truth of the current occasions. Everything started with the innovative upheaval which prompted the accessibility of different stages that served to effectively expand the exchange of data. The level of partition between the organization and the purchaser has decreased impressively. Marking Redefined Marking is not, at this point the benefit of the bigger aggregates or the huge pockets. With the appearance of innovation and the huge decrease in the expenses related with marking, littler organizations that are paying attention to marking have sprung up like mushrooms. The opposition is a lot harder and there is this race of possessing properties both on the web and genuine to remove the opposition. With regards to sports we can take the case of the Indian Premier League (IPL) the biggest game occasion in India this year. So there would be patrons for IPL who might request restrictiveness. This is relevant across industry segments state a patron of something like MTV Roadies who might wind up possessing the substance privileges of the show-just to show rivalry out of the publicizing circle for the show. The inquiries that pose a potential threat are ââ¬Å"Has the customary media died?â⬠or ââ¬Å"Has it simply diminished to an insignificant supporting media?â⬠or ââ¬Å"Have the principles of the game changed?â⬠or ââ¬Å"Is it another game altogether?â⬠Brand experience is both enthusiastic and useful. It isn't just a guarantee that an organization makes, or a confirmation to the nature of the item as referenced by Aaker(1991) yet it likewise has a mental task to carry out. They cause you to feel great about yourself or are a statement of yourself. They likewise satisfy social needs like a feeling of alliance or belongingness to a network or a gathering of individuals who think the same. The very reality that names like Arsenal, Manchester United of the English Premier League (EPL) are commonly recognized names in a nation like India where only Cricket sells, shows the development of sports marking. This wonder has been increasingly apparent in the ongoing past all on account of the media assembly (Kerr,2008). There are fan networks where individuals can talk about their groups, collaborate with individuals with comparable slants, vent their indignation when a player doesn't perform and share their sadness when their group loses. The appearance of game stations has given a medium to the supporters to broadcast a wide range of sports and not simply cricket. There is as quite a bit of engine sports, b-ball, tennis and football as there is cricket. The inquiry that springs up next is, what is the brand? Is it the player, the club or is it Football the game itself? On the off chance that indeed, how has a little white ball and a green field roused the best brand rules that has prompted genuine brand the executives? The idea of a game being a brand may sound somewhat silly from the outset, yet the figures dont lie. A Brand Finance review directed in 2005 uncovered that Manchester United had a brand estimation of Ãââ £197m, Liverpool an estimation of 156m, Chelsea Ãââ £137m and Arsenal a brand estimation of Ãââ £115mn. Indian Premier League (IPL) The Sport Renaissance in India India has two essential religions Bollywood and Cricket. The main separating factor that sets sports diversion separated from the rest is the enthusiasm that it orders and the ongoing execution. The cricket economy world over is 1bn USD to which India adds to over 60%. This incorporates incomes from ticket deals, sponsorship, supports and broadcasting rights. In 2008 the remote wars in the families in India had struck a détente as all the individuals in the family were stuck onto a certain something - the IPL for their own various reasons. Be it the charm, be it the game, be it the uniqueness of the idea or be it the publicity around the occasion, IPL re-imagined amusement. The General Entertainment Channels (GECs) watched an immense dunk in the Television Rating Points. Nothing had caught the eye of the majority the classes at such a scale ever previously. One year from now IPL struck once more amazing and better. The GECs deferred the dispatch of new shows as they were certain they don't had anything that could go up against the IPL. Such is the potential for the Sport Industry in India. The IPL 09 had rung the demise toll of the entire field of player the board in India as little size supporters marked the best of the players in the Indian group for a year at dead modest costs. This disaster occurred because of the arrangements that the IPL Franchise had with these supporters and the players were limited by it. This was the motivation behind why we saw Master Blaster Sachin, Zaheer and Harbhajan advancing Luminous Invertors and Sehwaag publicizing for Jetkings a gear equipment producer. Is it genuinely about club over nation? The club design brought to the open light through the IPL has broken the legend that sports in India is about national character and energy? In the bartering the most noteworthy offer shirt was not that of Tendulkar or Ganguly, it was Khans 11. It has offered ascend to a great deal of inquiries What is it that makes an individual help the Mumbai Indians or the Kolkatta Knight Riders? Is it Sachin, Sehwag, Shilpa or Shahrukh? Is it the accomplishment of the group or the procedure that they utilize when at the field? Different territories of concern would be has this idea of IPL altered the manner in which game is devoured in India? Will the onlookers be keen on an IPL coordinate over India versus Pakistan Test Match? The Moment of Truth in the IPL that made its prosperity famous was the way that the group really cheered when Sachin was bowled by Bret Lee. This is a marker of the way that sports in India is in the pains of advancement. Individuals are available to tolerating it as an amusement alternative than a devoted battle. Writing Review What is Media Convergence? Britannica Encyclopedia says, ââ¬Å"Media Convergence is a marvel that includes the interlocking of processing and data innovation organizations, telecom systems and substance suppliers from the different media stages like magazines, papers, radio, TV, films and the preferences. It additionally says that Media Convergence is the intersection of the 3 Cs Communication, Content and Computingâ⬠. As per Henry Jenkins who is a profoundly regarded media examiner and one of the preeminent driving specialists on the union culture worldview, just as, the DeFlorz Professor of Humanities and the Founder and Director of the Comparative Media Studies Program at MIT expresses that, ââ¬Å"the stream of substance over various media stages, the participation between numerous media businesses, and the transitory conduct of media crowds is the thing that establishes media convergenceâ⬠. It isn't only the juncture of the customary and the new computerized media yet it is additionally about the flighty methods of communication and relationship of the buyers and makers of media. It isn't exclusively innovative yet there is a colossal array of socio-social perspective changes that have changed the manner in which the buyer assesses an item, settles on his choice and his social cooperations to look for data. It likewise incorporates the experience that the maker of the media causes the sho pper to experience (Viau, 2001). The world is seeing the new types of media in which they have a bigger command over the kinds of feeds they get, the simplicity with which they can collaborate with the media as well as with the media supplier also. This has brought a totally different element of rivalry to the customary media stages. This has likewise prompted an absence of reliance of the purchasers on a specific media which thusly means lesser steadfastness. Advantages of Media Convergence: The substance makers can utilize the stage to create altered substance that is focused at a particular gathering. This has additionally realized an adjustment in the elements of economy as appropriation and cost structure isn't the equivalent in conventional media. It has realized a feeling of Post Modernism to the field of media utilization where the purchaser isn't a group of people but at the same time is a co maker. This has additionally realized an adjustment in the experience that an individual experiences by devouring media. It has risen above the constraints of the conventional media. Negatives of Media Convergence: This has acquired a specific measure of flightiness in the reactions that a media would get. With the crowd being presented to a plenty of media stages it gets extreme to comprehend what has had what sort of impact on the shopper. Media Convergence has realized a move in the control that the substance maker had over its property. With the coming of sites, mobiles and messages the purchasers are presented to enormous measure of unbranded substance. This has prompted an expansion in the opposition for customers time and consideration that the substance makers face. Is Sport an Industry? Does industry fundamentally involve an item or administration? NO! It could be a contribution that is neither one nor the other yet is devoured by the individuals. Amusement is an industry as is religion. In this way Sport is an industry too which contains selling sports or selling through games. Be it the occasions, alliances and the passes to see these or the showcasing of items

The Nationwide Student Debt Crisis - 967 Words
Fact or Fiction: The Nationwide Student Debt Crisis In the United States, it is generally accepted that college (or any form of higher education for that matter) is a wise investment that each and every individual should strive for. Each and every year thousands of parents open college funds and future investment plans to ensure that once their child is of age he or she can participate in quality educational programs. While college attendance rates are at a positive all-time high, right behind it follows an astounding $1.3 trillion dollars in student loan debt. Letââ¬â¢s face it, college is expensive, and itââ¬â¢s only getting worse. Could the outstanding quantity of student loan debt be the next national crisis? Individuals dealing with student debt are postponing marriage, childbearing and home purchases, and pretty evidently limiting the percentage of young people who start a business or try to do something entrepreneurial, said Mitch Daniels, president of Purdue University and the former Republican governor of Indiana (qtd. in Holland). Because itââ¬â¢s almost universally accepted that college is the key to success, students are finding themselves falling head-over-heels in large amounts of student debt justified only by these universal standards. Student debt doesnââ¬â¢t just burden the individuals who are liable, the sheer amount of debt has begun to rattle institutions and financial patterns that are at the core of American society (Holland). More concretely, these events highlighted the need for strengthening the Rakkasansââ¬â¢ ethics standards. Soldiers are not warriors; they are ethical warriors, whose identity relies on two inseparable pillars: ethics principles and operational efficiency. The Army core values reflect this ethical identity and the duties that come with it. Understanding that warriors need solid ethical references, the Brigade will demonstrate commitment to the Army values, invest in ethics education, and engage leadership. Warrior ethos without militaryâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦American soldiers are ethical warriors. Military ethics and warrior ethos constitute the two fundaments of the Armyââ¬â¢s Code of Honor. One cannot be separated from the other. This obligation has applied for ages to those who held power: science without conscience is but the ruin of the soul, as wrote Rabelais in the early seventeenth century. More than ever, soldiers need ethic references to guide their actions and prevail, especially in a Counter-insurgency environment where excessive use of force jeopardizes mission accomplishment. Whatever the situation might be, soldiers must be able to use their science of war with restraint, discernment, and ethics. Recent bad experiences proved that the Army should advocate this ethical military obligation with humility and determination. The Brigade will advocate its commitment to the Armyââ¬â¢s core values by focusing on Honor, Personal Courage, and Duty because these three values summarize what an ethical warrior must be. The other Armyââ¬â¢s values remain important but focusing on three will bring clarity and simplicity. Honor is a ââ¬Å"code of personal integrity.â⬠This code ties the Army to the Nation. It is of course the soldiersââ¬â¢ honor to risk their lives to defend the nation. But it is also their honor to fight in accordance with American values. The Western culture Essay Example For Students
The Western culture Essay Western-oriented modernism has greatly affected the formation of individual identities and gender relations around the world. This paper will focus on the construction of identity, gender and gender relations within the discourse of Westernization and modernization during the late-Ottoman Empire and early Republican Turkey. It attempts to show how social, political, and cultural institutions shape citizen identity and how redefinitions of them affect identity, gender, and gender roles in society. Examining the Pertev Bey series of three novels by Mi nevver Ayai lias primary source and some other various cultural and historical texts of the late-Ottoman and early Republican period in Turkey, this paper aims to search for the terms under which new forms of femininity and masculinity were constructed, especially within the private space of the family and in public debates, during the early twentieth century, which in turn changed gender relations to a great extent. The Western dominated concept of modernization has played an important role in the relationship of the West with non-Western countries. The transformation of non-Western countries in response to the requirements set by the criteria and standards of the West has resulted in a variety of social, political, economical and cultural changes. Modernization has placed the responsibility on the non-West to aspire to the ideals of this movement in order to be considered as part of the network of the progressing countries. The effects of modernization have been influential on the formation of personal and social identities. The construction of gender relations as a result of a myriad of debates on individual identities has been an important area for examining the social and cultural consequences of modernism, which have greatly shaped human interactions into multiple directions. 2 During the early nineteenth century, the Ottoman Empire struggled to accommodate its heritage consisting of political, social and cultural structures, institutions and values to the influences of the expanding Western colonial culture. Due to the disintegration within the Empire, resulting to a great extent from the wars and the influence of nationalism in the nineteenth century, the Ottoman society had to find ways to unify the society in the face of the loss of lands and power. One of the solutions for the Empire appeared to be Westernization among several other trends such as pan Islamism and Ottomanism. The acceptance of Westernization shaped many aspects of Ottoman life, especially individual identities and gender relations. The beginnings of Westernization are generally associated with the Tanzimat Fermani (Imperial Decree) of 1839 issued during the reign of Abdi lmecid. The word Tanzimat means regulations, and is used to refer to the period between 1839 and 1878 during which a considerable number of Western-inspired political and social reforms were carried out in the Ottoman Empire with the aim of solving the disintegration of the Empire. Despite the fact that the Tanzimat Fermani does not explicitly mention anything about family, women and womens education, there have been arguments that it has indirectly caused changes in the family and in the status of women. Rules for the behaviour of women in the public domain, new regulations on the institution of marriage, the emphasis on education for the improvement of marriages, the equation of family and women with the whole society resulted in changes in the positions and life conditions of women. Therefore, it is significant to study the Tanzimat period in order to examine the question of what types of female and male identities were discussed by both sexes within the framework of Westernization and modernism moving gender relations in different directions. 3 Both the period of Tanzimat and later of the Turkish Republic, which was founded in 1923 abolishing the political system of the Empire, are significant in the study of Westernization in Turkey. The approach of the Ottoman and the Republican towards Westernization have differences as well as similarities and both periods in Turkish history have contributed to the construction of individual and national identities, thus it is significant to study both of them to understand the various historical forces that have affected the formation of individual identities and gender relations. Based on this premise, this research paper uses the term Ottoman and Republican to refer to the two different periods and their changes in Turkish history and thus, to examine the effects of Westernization on the issue of identity in Turkey. Method and Sources The available sources prove the existence of avenues for the Ottoman subject to respond to new forms of self-expression, thus to voice individual concerns and questions about the imposition of new definitions on the self. Literature was one tool that the intellectuals of the Tanzimat and later periods used in order to convey different approaches towards the effects of Westernization on the formation of individual identities. The characters and plots of novels would, in a didactic way, try to show the reader the appropriate boundaries of Westernization. This research paper will analyze the Pertev Bey series by Mi nevver Ayai li , as primary sources, written in the 1960s about the disintegration of an Ottoman family during the early twentieth century. It will try to provide evidence for social and cultural changes referred to in the novel by examining studies done on various secondary sources, such as: historical narrative accounts, newspaper articles, images, advertisements, and books about the social, political and cultural reforms of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The premise, on which the research is based, is that it is almost inevitable for any non- Western country to be affected by the hegemony of the Western civilization, which has resulted 4 in many cases of complex interactions with the West. French Indian War EssayThus, their contribution to the historical changes of their societies needs to be analyzed as part of a study on the formation of gender relations affected by the consequences of a modernist discourse. Zilfi, in her work on Ottoman women of an earlier period, also argues that it is essential to focus on womens issues in the Ottoman Empire in order to see the broader picture on the Islamic past of women, which, in her opinion, has mainly consisted of pre-Ottoman past or Arabic sources in historical works. The book she edited consists of different articles that try to answer the question of womens active participation in the construction of their own social boundaries. Various studies on women and law, economy, vaki f (charity foundations) and marriage attempt to form a new framework to analyze womens experiences. Zilfi says; We argue that the elements of legal, physical and communal space converge to construct the 7 boundaries of Ottoman womens experiences (48) and continues; We replace the public/private dichotomy that has long dominated analysis of gender within the context of the Middle East with a new conception of womens experience. The new concept focuses on womans agency and traces her actions and interactions throughout all aspects of society, from everyday practices to material interests, from social rituals to symbolic expressions. (49) Zilfi appears to be on the same road with Enloe, Scott, and Frierson by tapping into the women question, acknowledging womens important role in the historical changes of their communities. Judith Tucker argues for recognition of the diversity in the Middle East, which in her opinion, requires scholars to form different criteria for studying gender in different contexts. She says that the variety of interpretations of Islam in the Middle East provide an example of the difficulty of generalizing or categorizing the Middle East and gender experiences in this region. The boundaries drawn and redrawn by historical, social, and contextual circumstances limit the ability to form generalizations about different cultures often considered to be in the same geographical region of the world. As the ideas Frierson, Enloe, Scott, Peteet, Tucker and Zilfi point out, for the purpose of this research paper, it is significant to start with the assumption that womens agency is significant in the construction of history. Digging into womens experiences of the modernization process, influenced to a great extent by both in the patriarchal society of the Ottomans and the patriarchal tendencies in the West, would enhance the understanding of the changes during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century Turkey. Family and Patriarchal Feminism The Ottoman Empire, despite the fact that it was not colonized, can be considered having experienced a type of colonialism when it took the West as a model in certain respects for the purpose of solving the disintegration in the Empire during the late nineteenth century. Within this perspective, nationalism and colonialism become useful terms to talk about the relationship 8 between the West and the Ottoman Empire. Chatterjee, in his work The Nation and its Fragments, uses the term anti-colonial nationalism, which creates its own domain of sovereignity within colonial society well before it begins its political battle with imperial power. It does this by dividing the world of social institutions and practices into two domains-the material and the spiritual. (6) Nationalism declares the spiritual as its sovereign domain where it launches the fashioning of a modern, national culture. Family, usually defined as the sphere of the female, is one of the sites of spiritual domain where the nation has the power to prevent interference from outside forces. (Peteet) In the face of colonialism, culture has been the driving motivation behind assertion of self-identities. Cultural authenticity (Peteet) has served as a unifier in the process of fragmentation caused by the encounter with a new civilization. Women have been equated with the primary agents who would establish, maintain, strengthen, and transmit the indigenous authentic cultures. (Peteet) Therefore, it has been generally considered that male rulers and thinkers of societies have assigned several roles to women for the enhancement of the interests of the nation as a whole. With its patriarchal social structure, the Ottoman Empire is assumed to have exercised its male hegemony over the female specifically in the family, which surfaces as an essential place to search for definitions of individual identities and gender relations. Gi le, in her examination of the relationships between modernism, religion and gender relations, specifically in Turkey, focuses on the notion of women as agents and symbols of the civilizing project of the reformists in the society.
